Average salary in Placement 2024 has gone down at Rs.15.61 LPA from Rs.16.61 LPA last year. 43 students received PPOs. Recording yet again 100% placement to its credit, IIM Visakhapatnam has completed final placement 2024 for its 8th graduating batch of MBA 2022-24 with 25% rise in highest salary which has gone up at Rs.43.25 LPA from Rs.32.65 LPA last year and a sharp dip in average salary which has gone down at Rs.15.61 LPA in Placement 2024 from Rs.16.61 LPA last year.
In a scenario when most B-schools are facing adverse impact of Economic Slowdown in their placements, IIM Visakhapatnam too has been affected by this phenomenon with a dip in its Average, and Median salary while has registered substantial increase in highest salary in Placement 2024. IIM Visakhapatnam concluded its final placement 2024 witnessing 177 marquee companies making offers to its large batch of 272 students. IIM Visakhapatnam has started conferring MBA degree instead of diploma after implementation of IIM Act 2017 which empowered the IIMs to award MBA degree.
With superior all-round performance, the student cohort lived up to the high expectations and landed plum offers in rich profiles and niche roles, from renowned 177 companies that made placement offers in placement process 2024 of IIM Visakhapatnam. On the successful Placement 2024, Dr. M Chandrasekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, said, “Despite the strong the headwinds, our students stood their ground, dug their heels in, and withstood the tough times, only to emerge stronger and put in even better performances” and added further, “It’s our pedigree, pride, passion, purpose, and potential that drive our high performance. It’s our high performance that places our Institute in such a high position.”
IIM Visakhapatnam Placements 2024 Vs Other 3rd Generation IIMs Placements 2024
Out of the third generation 7 IIMs which started operation in 2015-2016, only IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Visakhapatnam are the two IIMs who have completed placements for 2022-24 batch. Both of them have registered dip in average salary which is more for IIM Bodh Gaya at 13% than for IIM Visakhapatnam at 6%. Most other IIMs are also witnessing downward trend in placement packages.
IIM Placements 2024: Third Generation IIMs (Baby IIMs) Average Salary Trends for last four years
An interesting observation from the data is that while IIM Visakhapatnam has seen dip in average salary, its highest salary has gone up by 25% at Rs.43.25 LPA in placement 2024. IIM Bodh Gaya which has witnessed 13% dip in average salary, has witnessed higher dip of 33% in highest salary which has gone down at Rs.32.50 LPA from Rs.48.58 LPA last year.

Accounting for 34% placements, IIM Visakhapatnam witnessed BFSI sector emerging as the largest recruiting sector followed by IT & Consulting with 31% share in placement; Manufacturing with 12% share in placement; Logistics with 7% placement and the other sectors including FMCG, Retail, Healthcare, Real Estate & Construction, Telecom etc with 16% share in placement 2024.
