The first IIM in India, IIM Calcutta was established in 1961. IIM Calcutta is triple crowned with International Accreditation from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS and is the first B-school to get this recognition. It is also the only business school in India which is a part of the CEMS Global Alliance in Management Education. In 2017 Government of India recognized IIM Calcutta as an Institute of National Importance.

IIM Calcutta has earned a global reputation of imparting high quality management education. It has been playing a pioneering role in professionalizing Indian management through its Post Graduate and Doctoral level programs, Executive Training Programs, Research and Consulting Activities.

Highest domestic salary was Rs.1.2 crore. IIM Calcutta has not released the average salary for the batch in final placements 2024.

IIM Calcutta offers flagship two-year full-time MBA; two year full time PGDBA; one-year full-time MBA Executive; One year full time PGPEX-VLM; One year CEMS MIM; Doctoral PhD programme in Management among other management programmes like Executive Programme in Health Care Management; Advanced Programme in Digital Business Leadership among other executive and customised executive programmes. Admission to flagship MBA programme is through CAT exam and for other exams different admission criteria and eligibility criteria are followed.

The main campus of IIM Calcutta, covering 135 acres, is located in Joka, on the outskirts of Kolkata. The institute moved to its present campus in 1975. In December 2019, the institute sent a request to the state government seeking land to build another campus in New Town Kolkata. IIMC campus is well equipped with all facilities.

IIM Calcutta MBA Admission Process is through CAT and is a two step process. In the first step, candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) round from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme. The admission process for IIMC PhD programme is detailed as below:

Based on the information provided by the applicants in their application, the candidates will be shortlisted (on the recommendation of the respective areas) for interview
The mode of conducting the Interview i.e either Online / In-person will be notified/intimated well ahead of the process.
Candidates will be admitted to the programme based on a combination of multiple parameters, as also specified by the respective areas.

Apply online on IIMC official website with application fee of Rs.4000/-. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their GMAT score obtained during last three years of GMAT exams.

Candidates will be assessed for final admission on Academic background, Professional experience, GMAT score, Personal interviews, Statement of purpose, Recommendation
